Fish Oil supplements are big business. No wonder. The vital omega 3’s they contain have undeniable importance to human health. And, with the growing concern over our polluted waters and difficulty choosing safe fish, these supplements are a very convenient, if not increasing vital, way to get these fatty acids into our diet.

Of course fish oil supplements themselves can be fraught with risk. Enough so that a culture of fear has been built around them. This kind of fear is just what supplement companies love.  The companies know that there is not only concern over quality but also complete confusion over just what quality is.

Concentrated? High DHA? Molecularly distilled? Pharmaceutical grade? (I’ll lay that to rest right now…no such thing)dsvp_mark

Well, you do need to be careful what fish oil products you use. There is always some contaminated product floating around out there. Even some of the nutritional experts seem to be a little misled, however. Perhaps because they have more money than I it’s easy to get lazy and assume more expensive means better quality.

I understand if you have first hand knowledge of a certain product. But I’m seeing people implying that a common retail brand is inferior simply based on cost. Or that a concentrated product is automatically higher quality than a less concentrated one.
But even a very involved search will reveal that most all of the information about the manufacture of fish oil products is provided by the manufacturers themselves. So how do we choose? Hopefully this article, Fish Oil Quality will help you figure it out.

Once you do so, I’d recommend that you consider including fish oil in your diet right away, if you haven’t already done so.
